Plot is local-first. The extension uses browser storage to keep your project workspace in your browser profile. Plot does not collect or sell your project workspace data. If you choose Plot Pro, checkout and license validation are handled by Polar. License recovery email is delivered through Resend when you request it.

Product

Plot is a Chrome extension by NoStock Studio that replaces the Chrome new tab page to help you stay on top of all your projects.

Plot's single purpose is to help you manage projects, tickets, decisions, learnings, delivery progress, and lightweight project analytics from your new tab page.

Data Handled Locally

Plot stores the workspace data you create in the extension. This may include:

  • Projects and project names.
  • Tickets, tasks, delivered work, decisions, and learnings.
  • Notes, tags, timestamps, and project activity used for local analytics.
  • Layout, view, theme, date, and workspace preferences.
  • Optional local backup settings.
  • Plot Pro license state, if you activate a license key, including a local installation identifier, license key, activation ID, masked license display, Polar customer ID, masked purchase email, and validation timestamp.

This data is stored locally in your browser using chrome.storage.local. Plot may also keep a recovery snapshot in Chrome extension sync storage so your workspace and Plot Pro status can reappear after a reinstall when Chrome sync is available. If you choose a backup folder, Plot may also store a browser-managed folder permission locally in IndexedDB so it can continue writing your backup file.

Collection And Sharing

Plot does not collect your workspace data on NoStock Studio servers. Plot does not transmit your projects, tickets, notes, decisions, learnings, analytics, or backup files to NoStock Studio servers.

Chrome may sync Plot's recovery snapshot through your signed-in Chrome profile if Chrome sync is enabled for extension data. Plot may also sync the Polar customer ID and masked purchase email needed to reconnect a paid license after a reinstall.

Plot does not sell your data. Plot does not share your project workspace data with third parties. Plot does not use your data for advertising, credit decisions, data brokerage, or personalized ads.

Plot does not include third-party analytics, tracking pixels, or advertising SDKs.

Payments And Licensing

Plot Pro checkout and payment processing are handled by Polar. Plot does not receive or store your credit card number, payment method, billing address, or other payment card details.

When you activate or revalidate a Plot Pro license, Plot sends your license key, a local installation identifier, an activation label or metadata derived from that installation identifier, the stored Polar activation ID when available, and the Polar organization identifier to Polar's license API so Polar can confirm whether the license is valid for this installation.

Plot stores license status locally in chrome.storage.local. Plot may include Plot Pro recovery data in its local backup file and Chrome recovery snapshot so a reinstall can restore your paid state without re-entering the license key. Project workspace data is not sent to Polar.

After a completed purchase, Plot's confirmation page sends the checkout ID in the confirmation link to the NoStock Studio license service. That service checks the checkout with Polar and returns the matching Plot Pro license key to the confirmation page.

License Recovery

When you request license recovery inside Plot, the extension first checks local and Chrome recovery storage. If a saved Polar customer ID is available, Plot sends that ID to the NoStock Studio license service. Otherwise, Plot asks for the email used to purchase Plot Pro and sends that email to the same service.

The license service uses the customer ID or email to query Polar for the matching customer and active Plot Pro license. If a match is found, Resend processes the purchase email address and license key to deliver the recovery email. The key is not returned to the extension through the recovery request. No project workspace data is included in this process, and recovery data is not used for advertising or marketing.

Optional Backup

Plot includes an optional local backup feature. If you choose a folder, Plot writes a plot-backup.json file to that folder on your own device using the browser's File System Access API.

The backup file includes your Plot workspace and Plot Pro recovery data. The backup file is local to the folder you choose. Plot does not upload that file to NoStock Studio.

Chrome Permissions

Plot requests the Chrome storage permission so it can save your projects, entries, layout, and preferences in your browser.

Plot requests host permission for https://api.polar.sh/* so it can activate and validate Plot Pro license keys with Polar. Plot does not read or change the websites you visit.

Remote Code

Plot does not execute remote code. The extension runs code that is packaged with the extension.

User Control

You can delete projects, tickets, and entries inside Plot. You can also remove the extension or clear Chrome extension storage to remove locally stored Plot data from your browser profile.

If you created a local backup file, you can delete that file from the folder you selected.

Chrome sync settings control whether Chrome syncs extension data across your signed-in Chrome profile.

Limited Use

The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Changes

If a future version of Plot adds optional sync, account, AI, analytics, or cloud features, this policy will be updated before those features are released.
